Jack Carroll joins Murder, They Hope Christmas special

As do Martin Kemp, Anita Dobson and Peter Davison

Comic Jack Carroll, Spandau Ballet’s Martin Kemp and EastEnders legend Anita Dobson have joined the cast of Gold’s comedy Christmas special Blood Actually: A Murder, They Hope Mystery.

Also announced as joining the shoot today are Peter Davison, Rosie Cavaliero  and Ed Kear.

The 90-minute special is the latest in the series of shows starring Sian Gibson and Johnny Vegas as tour guides turned detectives.

As previously announced, the story will feature guest appearances from Jane Horrocks, Robert Webb, Rose Ayling-Ellis, Samuel Anderson, Clive Russell and Terry Mynott. Regulars Lee Mack, Sherrie Hewson and Sarah Hadland will be returning in the episode, which will again be written by comedian Jason Cook.

He previously said: ‘I am thrilled to be bringing back Gemma and Terry for Gold and even more excited that we are starting with the holy grail of television: the Christmas special. We have crammed as much Christmas into this as possible so I hope it proves to be a (blood soaked) Christmas present that all the family will enjoy watching.’

Murder They Hope

The plot has  Gemma (Gibson) and Terry (Vegas) spending their first Christmas together as a married couple in a far-flung village, where the locals seems unsettling.

Gold will also be making another 90-minute stand-alone Murder, They Hope special for broadcast next year.
