Lee returns to stand-up for charity gig

Stewart Lee is to make a rare stand-up appearance at a benefit he is organising to aid disabled children.

Lee has abandoned live comedy in recent years in favour of projects such as the National Theatre hit Jerry Springer - The Opera, which he directs and co-wrote.

But he helped put together a line-up for a gig in aid of the charity Kith And Kin that includes Big Train's Kevin Eldon, Pub Landlord Al Murray and The League Against Tedium's Simon Munnery.

Tickets for the gig, in London's Bloomsbury Theatre on June 6, arepriced from £10 to £25. They are available from the box office on 020 7388 8822

Another benefit is being held in London on May 21 in aid of the Fire Services National Benevolent Fund, which helps the families of firefighters killed or injured in action.

The charity's fundraising has been hit by the fire strike, as firefighters cancelled their flag day so as not to stretch the public's sympathy.

The bill, at Deptford's Albany Theatre, includes Steve Gribbin, Rudi Lickwood, Angie McEvoy and John Ryan. For tickets, priced £7, call 020 8692 4446
