Avenue 5 coming to Sky One

Launch date for Armando Iannucci’s new space comedy

Sky One is to air Armando Iannucci’s space comedy, Avenue 5, the broadcaster has announced.

The show is set 40 years in the future and stars Hugh Laurie as Ryan Clark, the American captain of a space cruiser taking tourists around the solar system. Josh Gad plays the billionaire behind the company that owns the ship; while Rebecca Front plays a US tourist who illicitly boarded the vessel, yet becomes the voice of the angry passengers after disaster strikes.

It will air in the UK at 10pm on January 22, three days after its premiere on HBO in the US. It will then be available on demand via Now TV.

Also in the cast are Zach Woods, who played Gabe in Veep, plus Brits Nikki Amuka-Bird and Lenora Crichlow, and Americans Suzy Nakamura and Ethan Phillips.
