Spasm
Note: This review is from 2001
The publicity for Spasm describes it as "the foot and mouth of sketch comedy". If so, it's time for a cull, for this artless, jokeless and laughless show has absolutely nothing going for it.
This trio seem to think that the very fact anal sex exists is - in itself - rib-crackingly funny and mention it in almost every sketch. No context, no comments, just the mention of the subject is expected to induce apoplexies of laugher in the audience.
The fact that it is met - like every other line in this dismal show - by a bemused silence speaks volumes.
It's impossible to deduce where the humour is even supposed to be, let alone whether it's working or not.
A dreadful, dreadful effort.
