Assembly installs a helter-skelter

comedyAs if the Edinburgh Fringe wasn’t already a helter-skelter ride for comedians... now they can experience the real thing, as giant slide has been erected outside the Assembly Rooms on George Street.

Called ‘Sip & Slide’, the construction offers some spectacular views across the New Town, before taking visitors  back down to the ground in a matter of seconds.

Assembly has also erected a new two-storey bar in George Square Gardens, called 

William Burdett-Coutts, director of Assembly Festival - who is heading into his 40th year at the Fringe - said: ‘To ensure that Edinburgh maintains its reputation as a world-class destination and that audiences in their thousands continue to flock to the Fringe in August, we need to constantly think about reinvention.’

The helter-skelter opens on Friday
