2026 Aberdeen Comedy Festival hailed a success

17,000 attend

This year’s Aberdeen Comedy Festival has been hailed a success after attracting more than 17,000 audience members in its second year, organisers say.

It ran over three weekends, from September 18 to October 4, with 45 gigs and events across the city. Connor Burns closed it at the Music Hall with his show Flow last night.

Sharon Burgess, chief executive and creative director of Aberdeen Performing Arts, said: ‘It’s been fantastic to see Aberdeen Comedy Festival build on the success of last year. From some of the biggest names in comedy to emerging talent and family shows, there’s been a real buzz around the festival.’

Highlights included Fred MacAulay, Susan Calman, Maisie Adam, John Kearns, Craig Hill and SNL UK cast member  Larry Dean.

Adrian Watson, chief executive of Aberdeen Inspired, which supports the festival, said the benefit went beyond the venues.

He said: ‘The thousands of people flocking into the city centre will have had a bite to eat and a drink either before or after the show, bringing much-needed support to our local hospitality industry.’

Burgess said organisers want the festival to become a firm fixture in the city’s calendar. The 2027 festival is due to run from September 20 to October 3.
