Gilded Balloon announces its first Edinburgh Friinge shows of 2024

But venue's Teviot House hub is out of action

The Gilded Balloon has announced its first shows for 2024’s Edinburgh Fringe.

It will be operating only in Patter House and the National Museum of Scotland this year as its home of the last 23 years – Teviot House – undergoes refurbishment.

Comedy shows in the first release of tickets – going on sale from midday on Wednesday – include a new offering from Louise Atkinson, the return of John Robertson’s The Dark Room, sketch show Biscuit Barrel, Locomotive for Murder: The Improvised Whodunnit, Fringe institution Late N Live and the debut from Glaswegian stand-up  Kathleen Hughes.

Karen and Katy Koren, artistic directors of Gilded Balloon said in a statement: ‘We will, of course, miss Teviot Row House which has been a major part of Gilded Balloon’s Fringe operation since 2001, but we look forward to returning next year for a big pink birthday bash to celebrate 40 years of Gilded Balloon.’

The first shows will go on sale from the central Edinburgh Fringe box office from Thursday.
