99 Club opens entries for its 2023 female & non-binary bursary

For comedians heading to the Edinburgh Fringe

Applications have opened for the bursary for female & non-binary comedians handed out by London’s 99 Club.

It is open  artists who are taking their first full length solo comedy show to the Edinburgh Fringe

Five shortlisted comedians will appear in a showcase at one of the club’s West End venues in June, where their performances will be judged by a panel of industry professionals. Two comics will receive an award of £500, with the other three finalists receiving £100.

Previous bursary recipients include Sophie Duker, Helen Bauer, Catherine Bohart, Sikisa, Lara Ricote, Sarah Keyworth and Janine Harouni

A club spokesman said: ‘We value our ability to offer a platform for diverse voices, and look forward to working with many more wonderful female and non-binary comics. We are honoured and privileged to provide a foundation for the artistic development of these exciting new comedians.’

The 99 Club says it is the UK’s largest employer of comedians, and is a ten-time winner of the Chortle Award for London’s Best Comedy Club.
