To mark 50 years of the Radio 4 stalwart

A definitive guide to I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue has been released on audiobook to mark the 50th anniversary of Radio 4’s ‘antidote to panel games’.

The Clue Bible is  read by its author, the comedy historian Jem Roberts who worked with the likes of of Graeme Garden, Humphrey Lyttelton, Tim Brooke-Taylor, Barry Cryer and Jeremy Hardy to compile the book. It was first released in 2008, with Garden saying: ‘As Bibles go, I reckon The Clue Bible is among the top two.’

Today the audiobook has been made available on Audible - coming in at a staggering 17 hours and 42 minutes -to mark the golden anniversary of Clue’s first broadcast. It also includes new contributions from both Garden and producer Jon Naismith

The book also covers how the core team met at Cambridge Footlights 60 years ago and gives the history of its madcap forerunner, I’m Sorry, I’ll Read That Again.

The Clue team had planned to stage a huge live celebration for the 50th anniversary but that was dropped after the death of Cryer in January at the age of 86, but a special BBC Radio 4 Archive Hour will be broadcast to mark the occasion  at 8pm on Saturday, with Radio 4 Extra airing classic episodes - including the very first pilot - next week.
