Tommy Tiernan to take RTE prime-time slot

Ten-week run from January

Tommy Tiernan is to host a prime-time Saturday talk show on Irish channel RTE One.

The comic will take over the 9.30pm slot for ten weeks from January 4 as The Ray Darcy Show takes a break.

He has also hosted three series of his own RTE One show in which he had no idea who the guests would be until they walked out on to the stage. It attracted an average audience of around 300,000.

The state broadcaster is part-financed by advertising and is reportedly seeking €120,000 in sponsorship for Tiernan’s new show.
