Union Jack backs Leicester Comedy Festival again

Radio station renews sponsorship for 2020

Digital radio station Union Jack has announced that it will be one of the sponsors of next year’s Leicester Comedy Festival.

The deal means the broadcaster will again air the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year competition live as well as the Circuit Breakers  showcase up-and-coming talent.

Its sponsorship will also increase the number of acts being given financial help to come to February’s festival under the Circuit Breaks scheme from six to eight.

Union Jack will broadcast several of its usual programmes from the event, including impressions sketch-show, Josh Berry’s Fake News, and Asking for a Friend, a panel show hosted by Balls of Steel star Mark Dolan.

Leicester Comedy Festival director Geoff Rowe is also director of comedy at Union Jack.
