TV executives get Hypothetical

Josh Widdicombe and James Acaster host a special edition at the Edinburgh festival

Josh Widdicombe and James Acaster will  put TV executives on the spot when they stage a version of their Dave show Hypothetical at this year’s Edinburgh TV Festival.

The suits will be faced with bizarre scenarios such as: You have 48 hours to get a selfie with Nicolas Cage or you die – how do you do it? How much do you need to live in Beaconsfield Services for a year? Or you’re a producer on Love Island and spot Bradley Cooper in a Mallorcan bar. How do you convince him to enter the villa?

Widdicombe said: 'I am so excited to be given the job of asking TV execs fun hypothetical questions. Makes a change from my usual questions, "Can we have a second series?" and "Is that it for the wardrobe budget?"’

Acaster added: ‘If we thought fellow comedians gave us some corkers, I’m ready to dish out pocketfuls of points to our TV exec’s and revel in seeing them answer with some crackers.’

Hypothetical has just been commissioned for a second series by Dave.

Festival director, Lisa Campbell said: ‘Watching TV execs having to improvise and make up ideas on the spot is going to be pure entertainment…. this is going to be one of the funniest things you will see.’
