Black Adder actor Peter Benson dies at 75

He played Henry VII in the original series before finding fame in Heartbeat

Peter Benson, who played Henry VII in The Black Adder has died at the aged of 75.

The actor had been suffering a short illness, his manager said.

He appeared in the first series of the BBC comedy, but was much better known for playing funeral director Bernie Scripps in  ITV's Heartbeat for 18 years.

His former co-star Steven Blakeley, who played PC Geoff Younger. said: 'Farewell Peter Benson. You made me laugh so much. There’ll never be another like you - talented, kind & gentle in equal measure.'
