Comic joins season 4 cast

Steve Coogan is heading to The White Lotus.

The Alan Partridge comedian is joining the next series of the Emmy-winning HBO hit, which will be set in the Château de La Messardière in Saint-Tropez.

Details of Coogan’s role remain under wraps, but he joins a cast that includes Helena Bonham Carter, Vikings star Alexander Ludwig, and AJ Michalka from  the ABC sitcom The Goldbergs.

The dark comedy revolves around the interactions between employees and guests at exclusive hotels around the world, and has previously been set in Hawaii, Italy and Thailand.

However, showrunner Mike White always keeps plot details close to his chest before broadcast – as is the case this time. 

With its lavish locations, season three cost $7million an episode to make.

Previous seasons have aired on Sky Atlantic in the UK and Ireland.
