Comedians become carol singers
Festive charity singalong announced
Comedians including Nish Kumar, James Acaster and Lolly Adefope are to take part in their version of a carol concert this Christmas.
The simply named Comedians Do Carols has been created by stand-up Amy Annette, who said: ‘For me, the best part of the festive period has always been the carols. Singing as loud as possible, often wrong, attempting the descants.
‘I wanted to do a different kind of carol service, for anyone of any / non / lots of, religion and some amazing guests have agreed to sing, read festive messages and be part of the congreSLAYtion (sorry).’
Also taking part are Big Boys creator Jack Rooke, EastEnders and Yesterday star Himesh Patel and Charlie Craggs of the Doctor Who: Redacted podcast.
Profits from the show will go to FiveforFive, a platform which supports trans people in need.’
Annette added: ‘Because this time of year is always about thinking of others, we’re raising money for those in need within the UK trans community, especially in this worrying time when their basic rights are being challenged.’
The ‘alternative advent service’ and singalong takes place at Soho Theatre Walthamstow on December 16 and tickets are available here.
