Building Betty & Joan’s coming to OUTflix

Three comedians’ attempts to build a new queer comedy club in London are to be charted in a new six-part series.

Building Betty & Joan’s follows the efforts of  David Ian, Kate Dale and Jeremy Topp to move their Queer Comedy Club from a venue in North London to a permanent, purpose-built home in Elephant and Castle

Programme-makers Milli Productions say they have to 'battle difficult contractors, problematic regulations and an ever expanding budget while not knowing what they are doing'.

The series will air on LGBTQI+ channel OUTflix – a standalone subscription platform also available as an Apple TV+ add-on – later this year.

The broadcaster’s CEO Brad Danks said: ‘The UK is home to some of the most interesting stories and dedicated audiences within the LGBTQ+ community, and we’re looking forward to delving behind the scenes of the Queer Comedy Club and adding to our strong slate of docuseries with Building Betty & Joan’s.'

Milli Productions previously shot five 45-minute  stand-up specials for the broadcaster featuring  James Barr, Heleana Blackwell, David Ian, Kat Nip and Vix Leyton. They were all recorded at the old Queer Comedy Club venue.
