Second series of Radio 4 comedy

Radio 4 has ordered a second series of Call Jonathan Pie, featuring Tom Walker’s angry news reporter alter-ego.

The new episodes come almost two years after the first run and again revolving around the journalist’s  radio phone-in show, both on and off-air.

The first four episodes of series two drop as a podcast on BBC Sounds on Friday March 28, with the first episode airing on Radio 4 at 11pm the next day.  The second set of four episodes will be released on Sounds on April 25.

Lucy Pearman returns as producer Jules, feeling as unappreciated as ever and ‘mulling her options’; Nick Revell plays senior editor Roger, who is eyeing retirement; and  Aqib Khan  is easy-going sound engineer Sam, who has started taking dating tips from Andrew Tate.

The news comes after the comedy was named best radio sitcom in the comedy.co.uk awards last month.

Call Jonathan Pie is produced by Alison Vernon-Smith for  Yada Yada Productions and commissioned for Radio 4 byJulia McKenzie.
