Business mogul insinuates Chris McCausland's blindness is a 'gimmick'

Lord Sugar has been slammed after appearing to call Chris McCausland’s blindness a ‘gimmick’.

The man who made would-be entrepreneurs bake mini-cheesecakes for the London Dungeon in the last series of The Apprentice made his offensive tweet during last night’s  result edition of Strictly Comes Dancing.

Although he didn’t explain exactly what he was referring t, the businessman posted on X: ‘I don’t know when Strictly Come Dancing are going to run out of contestant gimmicks. I would not be surprised if they had a AI mechanical robot next year.’

McCausland shot back: ‘I am sorry my gimmick offends you oh mighty Lord. #YoureTired.’

And fans were quick to attack Lord Sugar’s comments. One said: ‘Gimmicks? Says the man who literally just points a finger. I hope Chris wins.’

Another said: ‘This really is a contemptible take. As a businessman, one would think you’d have grasped that accessibility isn’t just "a gimmick". Chris McCausland has immaculate footwork, flawless timing, admirable musicality, stage presence & balls of solid steel.’

McCausland has impressed viewers and judges this series, and after Saturday’s performance,  Shirley Ballas  told him: ‘I can’t even imagine how you managed to do that so flawlessly when you can’t see.’
