Amused Moose names its 2023 award-winners at the Edinburgh Fringe
Trophies for Dave Bibby, Louse Atkinson and Simon David
Dave Bibby, Louse Atkinson and Simon David have won Amused Moose Comedy Awards at this year’s Fringe
Bibby was named ‘most fun’ show in Edinburgh for his interactive show Baby Dinosaur at the Banshee Labyrinth, while Atkinson’s Mates, at the Gilded Balloon was named best debut.
David won ‘most entertaining’ show - different from ‘most fun’ – with his Dead Dad Show at Underbelly Bristo Square.
The accolades are open to Edinburgh Fringe performers who do not have agents, have not won any major awards, and who have not played the Soho Theatre in London.
Winners get a trophy and the kudos – and maybe a show at the Soho Theatre in the autumn – but there’s no cash prize.
Rosie Nicholls, who won one of the accolades last year, said: ‘Winning the Amused Moose Comedy Awards raised our profile, brought us critical attention plus a huge increase in sales for our show this year, as well as touring our debut show. It's an invaluable stamp of legitimacy’
Also nominated this year were:
- Josh Baulf: Bulldog (Underbelly, Cowgate)
- Philipp Kostelecky: Daddy's Home (Stand 2)
- Samantha Day: The Booby Trap (Laughing House @ City Cafe)
- Will Hall: Mild Peril (Just The Tonic, Mash House)
Trophies were handed out tonight by Edinburgh Fringe chief executive Shona McCarthy and her deputy Lyndsey Jackson.
