Sorry I Didn’t Know to return for a fourth series

...and outside of Black History Month for the first time

ITV has ordered a fourth series of Sorry I Didn’t Know  its panel show about black history.

And for the first time the show, hosted by Jimmy Akingbola will air as part of the mainsteam schedule, outside Black History Month.

Chizzy Akudolu and Eddie Kadi will return as team captains for the four episodes, which will air in the autumn.

Katie Rawcliffe, head of entertainment commissioning at ITV, said: ‘Sorry I Didn’t Know has quickly established itself as one of our stand-out panel shows, with all the ingenuity, flair and humour to appeal to a modern, contemporary audience. We’re thrilled to champion this brilliant show and all it represents.’

The show is made by TriForce, the production company founded by Akingbola along with Fraser Ayres, who leads the writing team,  and Minnie Ayres.

The team also includes trainee Aida Abdul-Raheem, recruited as part of a scheme designed to foster a more diverse generation of off-screen talent. A previous trainee under the initiative, Josh Osoro Pickering, moves from researcher into a more senior content producer role, while a former camera trainee returns as a camera assistant, and a runner transfers into the art department.

Fraser Ayres said: ‘We're very proud to be working with ITV to not only deliver authentically Black, yet commercial programming outside of Black History Month, but… also to be creating unprecedented pathways for talent that directly address the lack of diversity in senior roles.’

The fourth series, to be produced by Jonte Richardson, comes after Sorry I Didn’t Know  was nominated for a 2023 RTS Award for Comedy Entertainment Show.

It will be filmed in front of a studio audience in London next month with free tickets available via the TriForce website.
