Radio 4 orders another series from comic Jamie MacDonald

More stories about losing his sight

Radio 4 has commissioned a second series of Jamie MacDonald’s stand-up show Life On The Blink.

In the new episodes, to be recorded in front of a live audience, the comedian  will continue to talk about his experience of losing his sight how it has changed his life.

He said: ‘Phew! The second series being commissioned means the first one couldn't have been a fluke!’

The first series of four episodes aired in Radio 4’s 11pm slot during May 2021, produced by Julia Sutherland of Dabster Productions.

She said: ‘Jamie is one of the most consistently funny comedians we work with - a great writer, a natural performer - and just extremely fun to be around.

‘Making the first series with him was an absolute pleasure. We can’t wait to get cracking with the second series, which already promises to be more packed with hilarious lines and unique observations than the last!’

MacDonald also appeared in the BBC Scotland sitcom, The Scotts, which has recently been commissioned for a second series.

He started to lose his sight in his early teens due to a progressive degenerative retinal disease. He studied ancient history at St Andrews University and law at Aberdeen and worked as a corporate banker in London before turning to stand-up
