Richard Hammond to front science panel show

Comedians tapped for new series

Comedians are to take part in stunts and science experiments as part of a new panel show fronted by Richard Hammond.

The former Top Gear presenter is taping six episodes of the programme, provisionally titled Richard Hammond's Big Boom Theories next month.

No line-ups have yet been announced, but the blurb promises team captains drawn from the world of comedy.

It is being made by Hammond’s own production company, Chimp Television, which says: ‘Richard is known for his love of popular science and spectacular TV stunts, so this is the perfect opportunity for him to have fun, experimenting with the nation's favourite comedians.

‘There are two teams of celebrity guests, each with a comedy team captain, ready and willing to be put to the test. Expect fireballs, giggles galore and more than a glimpse of scientific silliness.’

Hammond  previously wrote the children’s book All About Physics  and presented National Geographic channel's  Science Of Stupid.

No broadcaster has yet been confirmed for the new programme.

Sky 1’s panel show Duck Quacks Don’t Echo – from 2014 to 2017 – previously featured host Lee Mack and guests taking part in science-based stunts.

Richard Hammond's Big Boom Theories will be recorded at Pinewood Studios, just outside London, on February 9, 12, 15 and 18. Free audience tickets are available from Standing Room Only.
