New 'light-hearted' programme coming next year

John Bishop is to host a new entertainment show for ITV.

In John Bishop At The Weekend the comic will ‘dissect the news of the week in a light-hearted way’ with contributors and guests.

ITV’s head of entertainment commissioning Katie Rawcliffe said: ‘We’re thrilled to have John and his new show for ITV. With his irrepressible wit, we can’t wait to see what he and his star-studded guests make of each week.’

Details of the show are thin on the ground, but it was unveiled as one of the highlights of 2020 at the ITV Palooza, an event aimed at teasing forthcoming programmes to advertisers.

Bishop was previously one of the hosts of ITV's ill-fated The Nightly Show, while he also had his own chat show for W and hosts Amazon’s Premier League show Back Of The Net.

John Bishop At The Weekend will be made by Bishop’s own production company Lola Entertainment, with the comic and his agent and busienss partner Lisa Thomas as executive producers.
