Will Ferrell ends his partnership with director Adam McKay

Comedy kingpins to close their production company

Together they have created such comedy hits as Anchorman, Step Brothers and The Other Guys – but Will Ferrell and Adam McKay have now decided to call time on their creative partnership.

The pair met when they were hired for Saturday Night Live on the same day in 1995. Thirteen years ago they formed a production company Gary Sanchez, and went on to found the comedy website Funny Or Die.

In a statement to Deadline, they said: ‘The last 13 years could not have been more enjoyable and satisfying for the two of us at Sanchez Productions.

‘We give massive thanks to our incredible staff and executives and all the writers, directors and actors we worked with through the years. The two of us will always work together creatively and always be friends. And we recognise we are lucky as hell to end this venture as such.’

Director McKay and star Ferrell are still expected to work together on some future projects – just not through their shared production company.
