Michael McIntyre jokes about his robbery

Comic tells fans: 'I'm OK'

Michael McIntyre has joked about being robbed by masked hammer-wielding thieves on mopeds in his first stand-up show since Monday’s terrifying incident.

The comedian told his audience at Dublin’s 3Arena that it had been ‘touch and go’ whether he would get back on stage so soon after being rattled by the attack.

He joked: "They say time is the healer. I have lost my watch, how is time going to heal? I have no idea what time it is."

Newspapers report that the 42-year-old said: ‘I could have done with you, 9,000 Dubliners. Unfortunately, I had to fend for myself and it did not go well.’

‘It was not so much the fast and the furious as stationary and panicking. I could not get it started. It was fight or flight.

Two men smashing the window of his Range Rover with a hammer and ripped a £15,000 Rolex from his wrist as he was waiting outside his sons' school in Golders Green, North London, on Monday.

According to press reports, McIntyre fell out of the car and appeared to try to fight off the robbers.

Fans were full of praise for McIntrye's show on Twitter. Typical was Eoghan Lynch, who posted to the comic: 'Amazing....very funny. Thank you so much for going ahead with the gig so soon after your ordeal'
