Steve Martin and Martin Short to release Netflix special
Sketches and chat coming this summer
Steve Martin has shot a live Netflix special with Martin Short.
The show, An Evening You Will Forget for the Rest of Your Life, is to be released globally this summer.
It was taped in South Carolina last week, as part of the pair's current live tour in which they perform musical sketches and talk about their careers, which include working together on The Three Amigos.
Martin has recently returned to live performing after a 35-year break, having made a surprise appearance to open for Jerry Seinfeld in 2016.
Later that year he started touring with Short and bluegrass band Steep Canyon Rangers, who will also be appearing on the Netflix special.
Martin quit comedy in 1981 because he felt his 'wild and crazy guy' persona had lost its irony, as well as being frustrated at arena-sized audiences knowing – and demanding – his punchlines.
Martin revealed the Netflix news on Twitter - posting a video in which the pair were half out of shot and saying: 'We're going to be working with the best video people in the country.'
In the accompanying post he added: 'Now we're like Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle except for the pay!
Rock and Chappelle both received a reported $20million per special from the streaming giant.
