DEADPAN Australian comedian Heidi Regan has won this year's £2,500 So You Think You're Funny? new act competition, staged by the Gilded Balloon at the Edinburgh Fringe. Previous winners include Peter Kay, Lee Mack and Aisling Bea. Deadpan Irish comedian Ruth Hunter was runner-up , winning £1,500 and Australia's Danielle Walker coming in third, scooping £1,000.

PETER KAY'S Car Share was tonight named New Programme of the Year at the Edinburgh International Television Festival, at a ceremony hosted by Katherine Ryan.

SOFIE HAGEN has launched a new podcast called Made Of Human about how people who are 'socially awkward and introvert' cope with life. The first episode launched yesterday and featured Josie Long and future guests will include Katy Brand, Felicity Ward, Richard Gadd, Tom Ballard. Hagen already hosts the Comedians' Telling Stuff podcast and, with Deborah Frances-White, The Guilty Feminist podcast.

MARK THOMAS has won The Stage Special Award at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe for his show about his political awakening, The Red Shed. Natasha Tripney, reviews editor of the actors' newspaper, said Thomas was a 'deserving winner; with the show – which previously won a Fringe First 'one of his strongest to date'.

THE Tracey Ullman Show originally show on BBC One has been sold to America's premium HBO network, which will air the show from late October
