'Hey gringo, you have little nuts'

John Oliver dissed ... by the president of Ecuador

As president of Ecuador, you might expect Rafael Correa to behave with statesmanlike dignity.

But the world leader has found time to launch a Twitter tirade against John Oliver, mocking the size of his testicles.

Correa posted: 'On the subject of John Oliver: too much noise for such little nuts,' and said that the phrase 'English comedian' was 'an oxymoron'.

Ironically, his outburst came in response to 'gringo' Oliver teasing the Ecuadorian president for being thin-skinned to insults.

On his HBO show Last Week Tonight, the comic highlighted how Correa was behaving more like a slighted teenager than an international statesman.

Correa has been using his weekly TV address to the nation to attack people he feels have insulted him, rip up newspapers that publish negative stories and reveal the personal information of those who take issue with him on Facebook and Twitter.

Oliver told Correa, via his HBO show: 'Stop googling yourself. You’re president of Ecuador.

'If you are this sensitive, then Twitter and Facebook might not be for you. And, to be honest, being a world leader might not be for you. Unless you can build up your tolerance for personal abuse.'

Oliver asked viewers to tweet abuse to Correa 'to help him get over his hypersensitivity' - which seems to have riled the Ecuadorian.

In a handful of tweets, he said that 'talk show gringos are more unfriendly than a diuretic,' and mocked Oliver from coming from a nation ruled by a Monarchy.

'In Latin America, we are proud to have citizens and not subjects,” Correa tweeted. 'They’re making someone famous who probably thinks the capital of Ecuador is Kuala Lumpur. He does not deserve a second of time.'

He is Oliver's segment that started it all...
