New US deal for Laura Solon

Ex-Perrier winner develops sitcom

Laura Solon is to write a new sitcom for American TV.

Executives at the ABC network have ordered a script based on her idea about a tough working-class nanny looking after an eight-year-old boy.

Tension in the as-yet untitled show comes between the carer and the child's self-assured bachelor dad.

The deal, signed with producers Kapital Entertainment, is the second project 2005 Perrier-winner Solon has worked on for American TV.

Two years ago, she was signed to write a comedy about three grown-up siblings dealing with their overbearing mum, who had moved to the city where they were based, but nothing came of the idea.

And last year, the short film Tooty’s Wedding was selected for competition that she wrote with Ben Willbond was selected for competition at the Sundance Film Festival.
