Freddie Starr arrested again

He denies new claims of sex offences

Freddie Starr has been arrested for a second time after new allegations of sexual offences were made.

The 70-year-old comic was rearrested when he answered bail yesterday over previous allegations that he tried to grope a woman when she was 14.

He is being investigated by Operation Yewtree, set up after Jimmy Savile’s history of abuse was revealed.

Starr’s re-arrest was not linked to Savile, and he has strongly denied any wrongdoing.

The comedian, who was first arrested in November, has complained about his treatment after Karin Ward accused him of a ‘very bad attack of wandering hands’nearly 40 years ago, when she was a teenager.

He has said: ‘It’s horrible. I’m being made to feel like a criminal. It’s heartbreaking and it’s affecting my health. I’m absolutely drained.’
