Chortle Award 2013 nominees are out

Lee, Calman and Pappy's lead the field

SORRY POLLS HAVE NOW CLOSED

The shortlists for this year’s Chortle awards have been announced, with Stewart Lee, Susan Calman and Pappy’s leading the field, with three nominations apiece.

Lee is up for best tour for Carpet Remnant World, while he faces competition with himself in the DVD category, as the film of that show goes head-to-head with the release of his and Richard Herring’s Nineties TV series Fist Of Fun.

Calman is up for best compere, best club comic and best show for This Lady’s Not For Turning Either; while sketch trio Pappy’s are up for best show, best character or sketch act, and the internet award for their Flatshare Slamdown podcast.

Calman is also a regular on Radio 4‘s News Quiz, which has been shortlisted in the radio category

Several comics are up for two awards, which are sponsored by Universal Pictures UK, including Louis CK, Tony Law, Dr Brown, The Boy With Tape On His Face, Richard Herring, Alex Horne’s Horne Section and Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong - whose Channel 4 shows Peep Show and Fresh Meat are both up for the TV award.

The shortlists were drawn up by a panel of comedy reviewers, and are now decided by a public vote. The polls open now and close at 10am on March 6.

The winners will be announced at a central London ceremony on March 25, to be hosted by Jo Brand.
