Harry Hill to edit the Beano

Comic Relief special

Harry Hill is to be the guest editor of an edition of The Beano.

The stand-up will take the helm for a special Red Nose Day issue of the comic, which he joked ‘is going to be the bald issue’.

However he refused to be drawn on further details. When asked if this meant that Dennis The Menace could lose his trademark shock of hair, all Hill would say was ‘maybe’.

But he did say the issue and that the edition would set Twitter alight – even though he’s not on the social networking site that he describes as ‘just a bit of showboating’.

Hill is no stranger to comics. He appeared in his own strip in sister comic The Dandy between October and December 2010 – an idea he originated with comic artist Nigel Parkinson, who now works at The Beano.

Hill was also one of the star comedians who were turned into cartoon for the cover of The Beano to mark the British Comedy Awards last year.

In December, the Dandy ended its 75-year print tradition, to go digital only.
