BBC's new sketch show... in 3G

Ginge, Geordie and Geek to make a pilot

Sketch trio The Ginger, The Geordie And The Geek have landed a TV pilot for the BBC.

The show will be recorded largely in front of a studio audience in Glasgow later this month, though it will also feature pre-recorded sketches.

The blurb for the programme promises comedy with a ‘fresh surreal twist’ and says sketches will include ‘sexually confused speed dating, new dads confronted with dirty nappies, gay vegetarian lions… and running gags such as “the cleaner with a mop and hazard sign” who appears and mops at the worst possible moments.’

The Ginger, The Geordie And The Geek – whose publicity always shows the three of them in their Y-fronts - are Graeme Rooney, Paul Charlton and Kevin O’Loughlin .They formed their troupe in 2008 and performed at their first Edinburgh festival the following year.

Writing on their website they said: ‘After three Edinburghs, a million props, a swimming pool worth of sweat and many arguments about such important things as the word “the” in a sketch, the BBC have given us a TV pilot.

‘Thanks to everyone that’s supported us so far. Please keep doing so. Lots of hard work ahead still.’

The show is being recorded at the BBC in Pacific Quays, Glasgow, on March 16. See our free tickets page to be in the studio audience.
