Micky Flanagan signs exclusive C4 deal

Broadcaster gets its chequebook out, out

Micky Flanagan has signed an exclusive one-year deal with Channel 4.

Chortle understands he will now develop three or four possible ideas with the broadcaster, in the hope of finding a starring vehicle.

The deal will mean he will have to drastically cut down on appearances on non-Channel 4 shows, such as Mock The Week, though he is still likely to pop up occasionally.

Flanagan’s agent Christian Knowles told Chortle: ‘We’re absolutely delighted with the deal and the support we are getting from Channel 4. Just look at the quality of the acts who have previously been nurtured by the channel – it’s great news.’

Flanagan’s first role with C4 will be as a team captain on the advertising-based panel show The Mad Bad Ad Show next year. He will appear opposite Mark Watson each week, while the show will be hosted by Mark Dolan.

Flanagan has been nominated for best breakthrough artist at the British Comedy Awards tonight, alongside Angelos Epithemiou creator Dan Skinner, Greg Davies and Tom Rosenthal.
