Rab's return

BBC orders a tenth series

The BBC has ordered a tenth series of Rab C Nesbitt.

The Glasgow-based sitcom was revived after an 11-year break in Janaury, and proved a big enough hit for BBC Two to order another run.

The new series, made by Scottish production company The Comedy Unit, will air next year.

Writer Pattison told the Glasgow Herald: ‘Every time I write a series I say to myself, “Never again”, but human nature being what it is, you forget the bad times in writing and actually find yourself waxing lyrical about The Great Experience. And because I’m such an absent-minded buffoon, I can be sort of optimistic about Series Ten.’

Colin Gilbert, the show’s producer, added: ‘It’s great to know that in these days of hung parliaments, economic turmoil and volcanic ash that Rab's voice will still be heard above the din.’

The series first started in 1988, a spin-off from the Naked Video sketch show that began two years earlier.
