Extra student dates added

Chortle contest grows

Chortle has added three more heats to this year’s Student Comedy Award.

New stand-up talent will now be competing for a place in the prestigious final at heats in Kingston (Feb 24), Cambridge (March 9), Brighton (March 12).

A contestant from each heat – plus a people’s choice entrant voted on by readers of Chortle – will go through to the final this summer for a chance to win £1,000 and the coveted title.

Previous winners have included circuit stalwart Lloyd Langford, Nathan Caton, who recently made his own show for Paramount Comedy, and Tom Deacon, now the face of the BBC’s Switch Live.

Unfortunately it has also been necessary to cancel the Newcastle heat, due to both a confusion over dates and a lack of entrants from the north-east.

The competition kicks of on February 17 in Coventry. See our microsite for more details.
