It's his Funeral...

Chris Rock plans to remake Britcom

Chris Rock is planning to remake of last year’s British comedy movie Death At A Funeral with a predominantly black cast.

Rock will produce, star, and co-write the script with Everybody Hates Chris regular Aeysha Carr.

Frank Oz’s original, about a dysfunctional family thrown into chaos following the death of the patriarch, took around £30million worldwide, about five times what it costs to make.

Jim Tauber, of production company Sidney Kimmel Entertainment, told the Hollywood Reporter: ‘Chris, who was an unabashed fan of the film, came to us with a hysterical, completely new re-imagining of the original concept.’

A director is now being sought for the remake, which will take place in an urban American setting.
