Germany remakes Karen Taylor

Gags 'work just as well' in German

Karen Taylor’s BBC Three sketch show is to be remade for German TV audiences.

Broadcaster RTL has ordered a full eight-part series following after a successful pilot broadcast last month

German comedienne Mirja Boes, who stars in the German sitcom Angie, will front the remake, now titled: Ich Bin Boes.

The deal – between German production house Constantin Entertainment and Avalon Distribution – marks the first time Touch Me, I'm Karen Taylor has been remade outside the UK.

Separately, Constantin has also bought the German rights to Avalon Distribution's Grumpy Old... format.

Constantin’s Henning von der Osten told trade magazine Broadcast: ‘Britain has a great history of comedy and Germany is a little behind in this respect.

“These kinds of adaptations don't always work but the gags on Touch Me... have worked just as well here as they did in the UK.’
