ITV brings back variety

Comics to be showcased

ITV1 is to showcase stand-ups as part of a new flagship variety show.

For One Night Only will be an hour-long Saturday-night prime-time showcase for comics, musicians and specialty acts from around the world.

The show, at the heart of ITV1’s autumn schedule, will have two different hosts each week, who will also take part in a ‘showpiece finale’ with all the guests.

It will be made by ITV Productions and independent production house Pozzitive, which has previously produced Little Miss Jocelyn and Dinnerladies.

ITV1 will also screen We Are Most Amused, a comedy celebration of Prince Charles' 60th birthday, featuring the work of some of his favourite acts such as Monty Python, The Goons and The Two Ronnies.

As previously reported, Harry Hill's TV Burp and Al Murray's chat show are both returning to the channel, too.
