Brand 'bids for US chat show'

Eight episodes in the pipeline

Russell Brand is launching a bid to conquer America with his own chat show.

The comic is said to be recording eight episodes for ‘a top American TV channel’, which has not been named.

The shows are being made by British-based Box TV, whose previous programmes include the most recent adaptation of The Wind In The Willows, according to weekend press reports.

Brand recently made a successful appearance on David Letterman's late-night show to promote the movie, Forgetting Sarah Marshall. However, his attempt at his own chat show for Channel 4 last year was largely considered a flop.

Box TV did not respond to a request for comment.
