New sitcom for Mitchell & Webb

BBC Two pilot in the works

David Mitchell and Robert Webb are working on a new sitcom for BBC Two.

Details of the show are under wraps, but it will be more of a traditional sitcom than Channel 4's Peep Show.

Mitchell told Teletext: ‘We're still fiddling with it, but it will be similar in style to The IT Crowd, Black Books and Father Ted – a more heightened reality than Peep Show.’

The pair will film the as-yet-untitled show at the end of the year.

  • A preview screening of the first episode of the fifth series of Peep Show, followed by a Q&A session with writers Jesse Armstrong and Sam Bain, will be held at Bafta’s London HQ next Tuesday at 8pm. The event is open to non-members of the Academy, for a £10 admission. Details here.
