Sitcom? No it's a 'mobicom'

ITV launches a comedy for mobiles

ITV has commissioned its first sitcom designed purely to be viewed over the internet and on mobile phones.

Fifty two-minute episodes of The Gym have been made, starring Mighty Boosh actor Rich Fulcher will star in the show.

The show – which ITV is calling a ‘mobicom’ – will have a new episode every weekday for 10 weeks, starting on Monday. Episodes will be released on ITV Mobile first, then onto the itv.com website after a week.

Regular characters include Eduardo the "warrior cleaner", Gee the steroid-taking personal trainer and the manager Lorna, a former Miss Melbourne.

The show, also stars actress Ingrid Oliver, from the Watson & Oliver double act, and Australian actress Yesse Spence.

In November, ITV launched its first show made for mobile phones, the celebrity interview strand Hot Desk, but The Gym is its first scripted commission.
