Gervais shuns Woody Allen

...saying he's lost his touch

Ricky Gervais has turned down a role in a Woody Allen film – because he thinks the director has lost his magic touch.

The comic said he was offered a part in one of Allen's recent movies – but wouldn’t say which one - but refused when he saw who else would be in it.

He told the Independent: ‘ When I saw the rest of the cast - other British people on telly - I just pulled out of it. I thought, “That's no fun.”

‘This is the Woody Allen who doesn't know. He thinks these people are all good because he likes the accent. Woody Allen isn't Woody Allen any more.’

Allen has recently taken to employing many British actors in his films.

Scoop, starred Ian McShane, Alexander Armstrong, Sanjeev Bhaskhar, Phil Cornwall and Anthony Head while Match Point starred Armstrong, Paul Kaye, Penelope Wilton and Mark Gatiss.
