Broadway, here he comes...

Jeffries lands Denis Leary support gig

British-based stand-up Jim Jeffries is to open for Denis Leary at the New York Comedy Festival.

The dirty-talking Australian has just learned that he has been chosen to perform a 15-minute set at the 2,800-capacity Beacon Theatre on Broadway as part of the Denis Leary And Friends show on November 8.

The gig comes ahead of a short tour of the US, starting with gigs in Chicago and Arlington, Virginia.

Jeffries became an internet star after the clip of him being punched on stage at the Manchester Comedy Store, below, was downloaded by around two million people. The 30-year-old was later invited to perform a rare one-man show at July’s Montreal Comedy Festival, in the full glare of North America’s comedy industry.

The New York Comedy Festival runs from November 6 to 11 and features big-name shows from the likes of Rosie O’Donnell, Sarah Silverman, Damon Wayans and Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane.
