Going for the double

Herring writes two comedy-dramas

Richard Herring is working on two comedy dramas, one of them about a comedy double act.

But he insists his fiction won’t entirely be based on his partnership with Stewart Lee, saying: ‘For a start, they are going to end up being very successful.’

Herring is currently writing a second episode of the programme, unambiguously titled Double Act, for Channel 4.

In an interview with actors’ newspaper The Stage, he said: ‘I hope it’s not like me and Stew, mainly because I think that the character that you would assume is me is a bit more of a twat than I ever was. But there’s some of us in there.’

The show comes on the heels of a family-based comedy-drama he has written for ITV1, called You Can Choose Your Friends.

He also stars in this programme, which is currently being edited ready to air on April 30.
