Getting his Kicks on TV

Ade's radio sitcom heads for BBC2

Adrian Edmondson’s Radio 2 sitcom Teenage Kicks could be coming to TV.

A pilot episode of the show is being shot later this month month, with hopes it could be made into a BBC Two series.

The set-up is that ageing punk-rocker Vernon moves in with his teenage kids after a messy divorce, and vainly tries to recapture his youth while his children prove more mature.

The radio show, which received mixed reviews from the critic, was described as a middle-aged version of The Young Ones.

And aptly enough Young Ones co-creator Ben Elton takes a role in the new show, as Vernon’s sad best friend Bryan.

Meanwhile, Elton’s own sketch show – Get A Grip – will be recorded for ITV1 next month.

He will star opposite Alexa Chung, from C4's Popworld in a show that contrastshis middle-aged viewpoint with her younger perspective. It will be Elton’s first TV show in 12 years.
