Fry driving ban

Caught on camera at 74mph

Stephen Fry has been banned from driving for six months after he was caught speeding.

The QI host was captured by a speed camera as he drove his blue L-reg BMW at 74mph in a 60mph zone in Weeting, Norfolk, in May.

He already had nine penalty points, so the offence was enough to cost him his driving licence.

Fry, who has a home in Norfolk, was banned from driving for six months, fined £150 and ordered to pay £35 costs by Kings Lynn magistrates.

Fry, who admitted speeding, did not attend the hearing as he is currently filming a drama about the trial of Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann in Hungary.

Fry escaped a driving ban in 2002 when he was caught doing 99 mph on the A11 in Cambridgeshire. He was fined and given five penalty points.
