Davidson accused of racism... again
Jim Davidson has been branded racist again – this time for refusing to be served by the Welsh.The comic refused to be served by a barmaid because she was from the principality, it has been claimed today.
Country club worker Laura Davies, 19, says she heard him walk away from her bar muttering: ‘I’m not being served by the bloody Welsh.’
The 19-year-old told The Sun: ‘It was racial abuse. I know my accent’s funny but no one has the right to speak like that.’
But Davidson, 52, said: ‘It wasn’t because she was Welsh, it was because I thought she was stupid.’
It was just another incident during Davidson’s unhappy stay at the Telford Golf and Country Club on tour. He even tore up his bill in protest, claiming, the machines in the gym did not work and the staff were miserable.
But his publicist Pat Lake-Smith told the Shropshire star: ‘He ripped the bill up as a gesture because he was so appalled at the quality of the service. He was aware that the account would be paid by the promoter.’
