Cohen set for Sweeney Todd film

Sacha Baron Cohen is set to appear in Tim Burton's new Sweeney Todd movie.

The Borat star is in talks to play Italian hairdresser Signor Adolfo Pirelli in the adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's musical version of the demon barber story.

Pirelli, Todd’s rival in the hairdressing world, is described as a small but pivotal role, and marks Cohen’s continued assault on Hollywood. Not only is his own Borat film about to be released next month, but he also starred opposite Will Ferrell in Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby thissummer

Johnny Depp has already been conformed to play Sweeney Todd, continuing his Long-running partnership with director Burton.

Filming is due to start at West London’s Pinewood Studios in February.
