'Good' for Martin

Freeman, Pegg to star in rom com

Martin Freeman and Simon Pegg are to star alongside Gwyneth Paltrow in a new romantic comedy directed by her brother, Jake.

Shooting on The Good Night, which has a modest £8.5million budget, starts on November 7.

The film, Jake Paltrow’s full-length debut, is about the gap between reality and media images of female perfection.

Freeman’s romance with an as-yet uncast female lead will be played out in parallel scenes, alternating reality with fantasy, featuring an idealised version of his love interest.

His character is a former pop star now reduced to writing advertising jingles while Pegg and Paltrow have supporting roles.

Although the action is set in New York, most the filming will take place in Ealing Studios because Office star Freeman was keen to stay in Britain  for family reasons, trade newspaper Variety reports.

The film will also benefit from tax breaks from shooting in the UK.
